Jan 22, 2013 · 2014. Engine. 5.7. 2012 4x4 Express QC. Have been noticing at steady city speed (25-30mph) a howl in the front end. Sounds like RF area. This is the same sound my Explorer made before it tossed a wheel bearing. If I give a little gas or downshift it goes away.Truck just rolled 3,000 miles. Concerns or normal. What could be the humming noise coming from the front in my 2011 Ram Dakota 4 x 4 while driving ? It recently started making the noise and it begins just below 20 MPH and increases in volume until around 50 MPH then get a bit little quieter.. Turning the steering wheel to the left or the right does not seem to decrease the humming noise.

The ticking noise could be the universal joints having the bearings burned up causing the caps to move around on the joint. Raise up the vehicle and put it on jack stands. Start the engine and put the transmission in LOW with the transfer case in 4 HI. Listen to the front axle and try to locate the noise that the front axle is emitting.You have a 2500 with a solid axle. You don't have cv joints like the 1500. You have regular u-joints on the knuckles. It might have gotten dry or somehow has play in the u-joint. It shows up as slop or clicking. Can you jack it up, support it under the axle and with it in neutral rotate each front tire and see if you can determine the source of ...

The fix is to file away any rust build-up with a file. And of course, make sure the caliper moves in/out freely on it's sliding pins. The adjustable struts are the proper way to accomplish a raised front height to level.
