The red cog is to and from Vitzau, the blue cog is to and from Arth-Goldau. We took the red up, which offered absolutley spectacular views of the lake, mountains and countryside, it was honestly breath-taking. Sit on the left as this is the best side without a doubt. The blue cog offered hill views all the way down, still very beautiful.

The cog railway is a fantastic trip up to the summit of Pikes Peak. Beautiful scenery! Hopefully the tracks will be clear so you can do it. Luckily the tracks were clear of snow, and we made it up to the top. Unfortunately, there was 8 feet of snow on the ground, and the crew had to shovel their way into the gift shop.
