If you are a Ninjyutu user and want to level up efficiently, Kusarigama is the ideal weapon type. For Onmyo Magic users, Switchglaive is the preferred weapon.Use an element with bonus effects which works against most bosses, between the two you trigger confusion and destroys things. Since you are using Tonfa, try Tonfa gun with the purity buff spell, it powers up the burn portion significantly. Lastly, use poison to compliment it. The Talisman won't let you do that, but if you override innate Purity with a different type of Talisman you can still Ki Pulse. I'd say the main difference most of the time is offence (corruption) vs defense, but you also need to think about how you may want to apply it. Only corruption can be applied to skills, and only purity can be a weapon buff. Salt also applies the purity status really well and is just an item too.
