Sure there are very very good reasons why Linux runs most of the world on the backend and AAD eliminates a pretty strong reason for Windows Server. But there is a reason Synology exists alongside TrueNAS, unraid, freeNAS etc. One is simpler and easier out of the gate than the other. If you are using a smart bulb, you would need to leave the switch on. Therefore the smart bulb is also connected directly to mains voltage all the time. If you turn the switch off, it's now a dumb bulb. Besides, it's just a switch with a antenna and a bit of circuitry to operate the switch, nothing crazy here.response in an entirely different light.
