488 Photos. I would like to know if they train you on automatic or manual transmission trucks. I got my cdl a license but I only learned on a 6 speed. I never learned how to drive with a 10 or 13 speed and I’m pretty bummed about that so now I’m thinking I might only have to use automatic or auto shift trucks.Topic 11046 | Page 1. I find dry is mostly drops and Hooks. With loads going about 3 to 6 hundred miles on average. Reefer dose have more stops on it but we get paid stop pay. My loads average about 1000+ miles. I have found I get more miles per week reefer then I do dry van.It'll be way too cramped and inconvenient. To get a rider policy which allows you to have a passenger you simply talk to the Driver Resources guy at a terminal or HR. the fee is usually 150$ on average. When I was pulling Prime trailers with the company I trained at I went coast to coast twice in that month, also hit 42/48 states in that time. I'm sure it also helped my trainer lived in CA.
